But Marostica is not known only for her castle and walls, her unique and particular “Chess-Square” is well known all over the world. Once every two years and only on even years, Marostica goes back to her oldest origins and a Chess Match that takes place on the the magnificent “Chess-Square” where holds and lives on again the story of the beautiful daughter of the Lord of Marostica and of the two noblemen Rinaldo d’Angarano and Vieri da Vallonara, that challenge the hand of Lionora. More than 600 walk-ons in typical medieval costumes represent the “gamepieces” on a live chess board match.
